Mercadona pays EUR2.52 million fine for breaching GDPR in Spain

( July 28, 2021, 11:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Retailer Mercadona has paid a fine of 2.52 million euros imposed by the Spanish data protection authority for violating the GDPR. The company was fined for illegally processing biometric data via a facial-recognition system installed in its stores, the regulator said. The initial fine amounted to 3.15 million euros, but the company benefited from the standard reduction for making a voluntary payment. The document is attached (in Spanish)....
