Monsanto gets EUR400,000 GDPR fine in France

( July 28, 2021, 08:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US agrochemical company Monsanto has received a 400,000-euro fine from France’s Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés, for failing to inform people whose contact information was recorded in a file for lobbying purposes, in relation to the debate on the renewal of the authorization of glyphosate in Europe. The CNIL had received seven complaints from people affected by this file, in addition to media reports in 2019. The regulator found that the poll was done on behalf of Monsanto by PR and lobbying companies, and also penalized Monsanto for failing to put in place contractual guarantees governing its relations with subcontractors.
