US FTC's Bedoya registers 'concerns' about agency's ability to change Meta consent order

( May 3, 2023, 18:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Federal Trade Commissioner Alvaro Bedoya said he has questions about the FTC's ability to modify its privacy consent order against Meta Platforms.  "Here, the relevant question is not what I would support as a matter of policy. Rather, when the Commission determines how to modify an order, it must identify a nexus between the original order, the intervening violations, and the modified order. Based on the record before me today, I have concerns about whether such a nexus exists for proposed Provision I," Bedoya wrote in a separate statement filed with the FTC's order to show cause that Meta hasn't violated its privacy consent order with the FTC.See attached document....
