Liberty Global’s Telenet and Fluvius win EU approval for Belgian fiber JV

( May 31, 2023, 10:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Liberty Global’s Belgian telecom operator Telenet and infrastructure operator Fluvius System Operator have won EU approval for plan to merge their fixed networks in Belgium, and to jointly roll out a fiber network in the Flanders region. The European Commission found the deal raised no competition concerns due to the companies’ limited combined market position. It also said it “took note” of commitments the companies offered to the Belgian competition authority to address concerns about possible “conflicts of interest.” Statement follows....
