Chinese regulator issues guidelines on record-filing for cross-border transfer of personal data via standard contracts

( May 31, 2023, 04:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: China’s central-level Internet regulator has issued guidelines for personal-data handlers on how to file a record with its provincial branches in their outbound cross-border transfers of personal information via a standard contract. The guidelines set out requirements on means, procedures and materials related to a record filing, along with a template for an impact-assessment report on personal-information protection. Local cyberspace regulators will finish checking submitted materials within 15 working days upon receiving them and notify personal-data handlers about the results. For a record refiling that needs supplementary materials, personal-data handlers can re-submit them within 10 working days.
