Microsoft-Activision deal cleared in South Korea

( May 30, 2023, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Microsoft’s planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard was approved with no conditions by South Korea’s competition regulator today. In a statement, the Korea Fair Trade Commission announced the merger approval, saying its review found that the deal did not pose any competition restraints in the domestic console and cloud gaming service markets. The regulator said its review focused on whether the competition in those markets could be restricted after the merger by Microsoft, which runs console and cloud gaming businesses, exclusively supplying Blizzard’s popular games to its own gaming services. The statement, in Korean, is attached....
