Assa Abloy's move on NZ Fire Doors can proceed, following New Zealand clearance
( July 23, 2021, 00:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Swedish lockmaker Assa Abloy’s request for regulatory clearance to acquire NZ Fire Doors has been successful, with New Zealand's competition regulator announcing today that the deal was unlikely to substantially lessen competition in any market. In a statement, the New Zealand Commerce Commission said that while the companies were two of the largest manufacturers of fire-rated doors, the merged entity would continue to face strong constraint from other fire-door manufacturers. The Commerce Commission also considered whether Assa Abloy NZ would be able to bundle or tie its supply of doors in an anticompetitive way, but concluded that it “would be unlikely to engage in this behavior due to the presence of other fire-door manufacturers.” The full statement by the New Zealand Commerce Commission follows: ...
