Luxottica, LVMH, Chanel fined EUR126 million in France for imposing retail prices, banning Internet sales

( July 22, 2021, 10:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Global leader in luxury eyewear Luxottica, as well as LVMH and Chanel, have been fined a total of almost 126 million euros, France's competition authority today said, for imposing retail prices for sunglasses and eyeglass frames on opticians and for prohibiting them from selling the products online. Luxottica was fined almost 125.2 million euros, LVMH 500,000 euros and Chanel 130,000 euros. Another company, Logo, participated in the anticompetitive practices, but was exempted from fines because of its financial situation and the fact it has been in liquidation since 2016.
