EU formally initiates WTO complaint against Russia's restrictive procurement practices

( July 20, 2021, 10:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU has requested World Trade Organization dispute consultations with Russia on what it sees as discriminatory procurement practices by the country's state-owned enterprises. The bloc is challenging, in particular, three Russian measures: discriminatory assessments of procurement bids, requirements for prior authorizations, and national quota requirements in procurement. The EU's request for consultations gives both parties time to discuss the matter without proceeding further with litigation.
