Texas Senate approves social media regulation bill

( July 14, 2021, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Texas Senate approved by a vote of 17-5 legislation that would regulate social media platform content moderation. The bill, SB 5, is sponsored by Republican Senator Bryan Hughes. It makes a legislative finding that social media platforms with more than 50 million active monthly users are common carriers "by virtue of their market dominance." Users could sue social media platforms for relief against "censorship." Remedies include declaratory and injunctive relief as well as "costs and reasonable and necessary attorney's fees."See document below....
