Johnson Controls, ex-employee sued in Hong Kong over price fixing, market sharing

( May 23, 2023, 07:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hong Kong's Competition Commission today said it had commenced court proceedings against Johnson Controls and ATAL Building Services Engineering for alleged price fixing, market sharing and bid rigging in the provision of air-conditioning works between December 2015 and June 2018. A former Johnson Controls employee was also sued for allegedly taking part in the offence. The proceedings followed similar litigation initiated by the regulator against certain other providers in June last year. The regulator is seeking court orders for pecuniary penalties to be imposed on Johnson Controls and the former employee. As for ATAL, the company has entered into a cooperation agreement with the commission under which it will admit liability and pay a fine of HK$150 million ($19 million), the statement said.The commission's statement is attached....
