Apple ordered by judge in US class action to produce documents related to South Korea, EU business changes

( August 19, 2024, 21:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Apple must produce to documents related to business changes it made in the EU and South Korea, a federal California judge has ruled. In an order, US Magistrate Judge Thomas Hixson said consumer plaintiffs had a "pretty good theory" for why Apple's foreign conduct was relevant in the private monopolization case in the US. "In Europe, Apple is doing some of the very things it refuses to do in the U.S. because of privacy, security and other concerns, and it is doing them with some apparent success," Hixson said. "Plaintiffs say this may show that Apple’s pro-competitive justifications for its complete control over app distribution are not as important as Apple says they are. This is a good theory of relevance."   See court filing. ...
