Wireless providers, assisted by Ericsson, use monopoly power to suppress patent values, ASUS Technology Licensing says in US suit

By Melissa Ritti ( August 19, 2024, 13:56 GMT | Insight) -- In a lawsuit removed Friday to the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon are accused of conspiring to boycott good faith licensing efforts by Celerity IP to 3G/4G/5G patents owned by ASUS Technology Licensing. The complaint was originally filed by ASUS and Celerity in July, in Texas state court, and accuses Ericsson of assisting the wireless providers in their unlawful scheme. A docket entry suggests the case may again be on the move — this time to the Eastern District of Texas, where the parties are already embroiled in patent litigation.ASUS Technology Licensing and Celerity IP say AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have entered into an unlawful agreement to boycott offers of a license by Celerity to certain ASUS patents relating to the 3G/4G/5G wireless standards. The wireless providers are all customers of Ericsson, whom ASUS and Celerity accuse of extortion....
