Facebook, eBay pledge to combat misleading reviews after action from UK CMA

( January 8, 2020, 10:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Facebook and eBay have pledged to put measures in place to combat the practice of fake and misleading reviews on their websites, following action by the UK Competition and Markets Authority. In order to address the CMA’s concerns, Facebook said it would introduce more-robust systems to detect and remove such content, while eBay has improved its existing filters to better identify and block listings for the sale or trade of online reviews. The CMA said a further sweep of relevant platforms also highlighted misleading reviews for sale via Instagram, and its owner Facebook has committed to investigate this issue.Statement follows.
