State aid guidance for UK authorities aimed at minimizing harm to competition, government says

( November 11, 2022, 17:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: State aid guidance for UK public authorities is designed to minimize harm to competition and investment, the UK government's business, energy and industrial strategy department has said in a guidance document. The guidance also states that when public authorities award subsidies there should be "effective and efficient" use of public money. The Competition and Markets Authority is the authority for the regime through its Subsidy Advice Unit. In its own guidance document, following a consultation, the CMA said the SAU will advise public authorities over certain subsidies as well as monitoring and report on the "effectiveness" of the regime.Statement follows.
