Swedish Government: Access to information about electronic communications for criminal investigations

( February 10, 2012, 17:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Swedish government has put forward a proposal that would widen the scope of information on communications that the police and surveillance authorities have access to, but maintain requirements on court orders to authorise such collection. Investigators will be able to collect information, including location data from devices that are not in use and historical location information for devices in a given area, without formally targeting a specific suspect.
