Hong Kong Laureate Forum, ballet group given enforcement notices over data-protection violations

( August 9, 2024, 09:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hong Kong's privacy regulator says it has issued an enforcement notice against the Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum for violating data-protection rules. The violation was identified after the entity suffered a ransomware attack in September 2023 that affected the personal data of 8,122 individuals, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data said in a statement. The regulator has also issued an enforcement notice requiring remedial actions from the Hong Kong Ballet, after a ransomware attack on the organization's servers compromised the personal data of an estimated 37,840 individuals.The statement is attached....
