Aircalin, Qantas and Air New Zealand the focus of New Caledonia’s air-transport industry review

( December 22, 2019, 23:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New Caledonia’s air-transport services are set to be scrutinized by the French territory’s competition authority, which announced its decision to launch a probe into both domestic and international airlines late last week. In a statement, the Autorité de la concurrence de la Nouvelle-Calédonie said that air transport played a major role in the economic development of the Pacific territory and was “an essential concern for Caledonia consumers.” The self-initiated investigation will review the international operations of local provider Aircalin, alongside that of Qantas, Air New Zealand and Air Vanuatu; it would also review the domestic, island-to-island operations of Air Calédonie and Air Loyauté. The probe is set to focus on the operations of La Tontoula International Airport. The full announcement of the New Caledonia Competition Authority (in French) follows: ...
