Biomar, Skretting, Ewos, Salmofood should be fined $70 million in salmon feed price-fixing probe, Chilean regulator says

( December 19, 2019, 22:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Four major salmon feed producers — Biomar Chile S.A. (Biomar), Comercializadora Nutreco Chile Limitada (Skretting), Ewos Chile Alimentos Limitada (Ewos) and Vitapro Chile S.A. (Salmofood) — should be fined approximately $23.3 million each for colluding to fix prices of salmon feed, the Chilean competition authority said in a statement. According to the Fiscalía Nacional Económica, or FNE, the cartel occurred from 2003 to 2015. "Executives of the accused companies usually communicated through emails, meetings and telephone calls, which they subsequently attempted to erase," FNE said. The case will be sent to the Chilean Competition Tribunal (TDLC) for a ruling.See FNE statement and opinion below....
