Indiana opposes proposed Equifax class action settlement

( December 5, 2019, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indiana says the proposed settlement of the Equifax data breach class action will preclude its own litigation against the credit monitoring agency. Indiana “requests that the Court reject the settlement as drafted due to the overbroad release language included, which purports to limit the ability of the Indiana Attorney General to pursue full remedies under the law,” state attorneys said in a brief. Indiana and Massachusetts are the only two states not to approve the settlement, which still requires final approval from Judge Thomas Thrash in the Northern District of Georgia, where Equifax has its headquarters.Indiana's filing in opposition to the settlement is attached below....
