Meta moves for summary judgment to limit Texas AG biometric privacy suit to financial remedy

( April 21, 2023, 19:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms moved for summary judgment that the Texas attorney general's lawsuit alleging Meta violated the state biometric privacy law must be limited to financial, not injunctive, damages. "The Court should deny this [state] request because [the Capture or Use of Biometric Identifiers statute] doesn’t authorize injunctions, and the State, like all other litigants, is entitled only to the remedies provided by law. CUBI’s statutory context confirms what its text makes clear — that injunctive relief isn’t available here," Meta said in a court filing.See attached document....
