Japan's Hamamatsu Photonics' acquisition of NKT Photonics denied by Danish authorities

( May 8, 2023, 06:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s optical sensor maker Hamamatsu Photonics said that its plan to purchase Copenhagen-based NKT Photonics was rejected by Danish authorities under the Danish Investment Screening Act. The company said it obtained legal and regulatory clearance from relevant authorities in Germany, the UK and the US but was notified on May 2 by the Danish Business Authority that Denmark had rejected the application. The company is considering further actions in relation to the decision, it said. Hamamatsu announced on June 24, 2022 its 205 million euro bid for NKT Photonics to expand its laser application business through NKT’s fiber laser technology, used in fields that include semiconductor manufacturing and quantum computers.Company statement follows:...
