Agricultural sector traders lose appeal against dawn raids, Dutch court rules

( July 12, 2021, 16:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Large traders in the agricultural sector have lost their legal challenge to visits by the Dutch competition authority, a district court in The Hague has ruled. In 2019, the regulator raided the companies on suspicions that they coordinated the purchase prices paid to farmers. While gathering digital information, the regulator learned about a possible further antitrust breach and extended its probe. Some companies have sought interim measures seeking deletion of the digital information. Judges said the regulator didn't have to ignore these indications of other violations and was therefore allowed to expand its investigation.
