Ferrari loses appeal to trademark vintage race car design in EUIPO ruling

The Fifth Board of Appeal of the European Union Intellectual Property Office said a trademark examiner had correctly denied Ferrari’s request for an international registration. An examiner found that the car’s features — such as its body shape — are common for vintage cars.The Fifth Board of Appeal of the European Union Intellectual Property Office has dismissed an appeal that Ferrari S.p.A. filed last year after it was denied a trademark registration for the 3D shape of one of its car models (see here)....
