Deadline for AI standards to be postponed, EU standards chief says

Sebastian Hallensleben, chair of the group developing European AI standards at CEN-Cenelec told MLex that the original deadline of April 30, dictated by the EU Commission, is likely to be pushed back. The aim now is to find a balance between good standards and timely delivery.The AI sector can expect crucial technical standards by the end of 2025, around eight months later than originally expected, MLex has learned. The standards will help the industry ensure technical compliance with the EU’s new law on artificial intelligence....
