EU unveils stronger rules to fight corruption

( May 3, 2023, 12:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has unveiled a set of measures to strengthen its fights against corruption both in the EU and worldwide, including a new directive on combating corruption. They include new rules criminalizing corrupt offenses and harmonizing definitions of criminal offenses and penalties across the EU, as well as a proposal to establish a dedicated Common Foreign and Security Policy sanctions regime. Věra Jourová, the EU executive's vice-president for values and transparency, said: “Today’s package will raise the bar for EU-wide definitions and penalties of corruption crimes and will help authorities to catch and punish the criminals, be it from the public or private sector, no matter where they happen.”Statement below and documents attached.  ...
