Japan's NTT Business Solutions ex-employee found guilty for illegal breach of customer data

( July 29, 2024, 03:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An ex-employee of Osaka-based NTT Business Solutions received a 1 million yen fine and a suspended sentence of three years by the Okayama District Court on July 11 for violation of Japan's unfair competition prevention law which prohibits acquiring and disclosure of trade secrets. The ruling, which doesn't identify the individual or the companies involved, found the crime could have "caused the victimized company to lose its fundamental credibility and dealt a major blow to the company's business foundation," finding the maliciousness of the crime to be high due to the repeated monetization of similarly acquired data.
