China proposes national ID authentication platform to curb data misuse by Internet platforms

When people are required to register and verify their real identity information for Internet services, they can apply for and use "Internet numbers" and "Internet certificates" through the national ID authentication platform without providing plaintext personal ID information to Internet platforms.
