Google Assistant privacy claims trimmed by US judge

( July 2, 2021, 18:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Allegations that Google violated federal and state privacy laws by surreptitiously listening to private conversations recorded by its Google Assistant-enabled devices have been narrowed by a US federal judge. US District Judge Beth Labson Freeman in San Jose, California, dismissed federal wiretap claims related to targeted advertising but allowed fraud and invasion of privacy claims to move forward. She gave the plaintiffs until Aug. 2 to file an amended complaint, but only allowed fraud and deceit claims under California common law and the California Consumers Legal Remedies Act. See document below....
