For-profit hospitals gain key provision in Connecticut bill requiring mergers to be notified

By Jeff Bliss ( May 14, 2014, 22:22 GMT | Insight) -- For-profit hospitals such as Tenet Healthcare would have less difficulty doing business in Connecticut under a bill passed by the state legislature this month that also would subject healthcare mergers to more notification requirements and scrutiny. Under the bill, a for-profit hospital would be able to indirectly employ physicians, who could boost the hospital’s revenue with their referrals.
