Comment: Arizona case against Google over Android location data is leading edge of consumer-protection wave

The hearing is significant because rather than arguing allegations, the two sides will be arguing actual evidence gathered in a regulatory investigation, but the Arizona case is also the leading edge of a series of US state attorney general claims that Google's personal data collection disclosures violated state consumer protection laws. Over the next few years, Google is likely to face multiple high-stakes court decisions in the US over whether disclosures around its personal data-collection practices violated state consumer protection laws.
