New heating systems in Germany face 65 percent renewable-energy minimum

( April 19, 2023, 12:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Every heating system installed in Germany from next January must run on at least 65 percent renewable energy, the government has proposed through an amendment to the Building Energy Act. Owners can meet this obligation by creating their own individual solution, or by choosing between options provided by law, a statement says. These include, for example, connection to a heating network, electric heat pumps, direct electricity heating, a combination of renewable heating and gas or oil boilers, or heating based on solar thermal energy.
