Port operator Tecon hasn’t breached antitrust rules, CADE officials say

( August 3, 2015, 14:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Tecon Suape’s monopoly of operations in Brazil’s Suape Port is caused by government regulation of the sector and shouldn’t face antitrust action, officials have said. CADE is looking at whether the port operator prevented rivals from operating out of the port in Pernambuco state by closing off areas and increasing fees. Tecon has a lease to operate the port on behalf of the government. Officials today recommended closing the investigation, according to a statement in the country’s Official Journal.OJ statement follows in full....
