​Paper Australia's plans to acquire Orora's Australian businesses face merger review

( December 2, 2019, 06:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nippon Paper subsidiary Paper Australia's plans to buy up Orora's Australian paper and recycling, fiber-packaging ventures as well as its sacks and bags business, is facing an informal merger reivew in Australia, the country's competition regulator announced today. In a market inquiries letter, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said its investigation of the deal will focus on factors including whether converted packaging-product manufacturers have alternative options for sourcing packaging products and whether the two companies currently compete in paper product supply and manufacture. Interested parties are invited to send submissions on the deal to the ACCC by Dec. 16.
