EU telecom chiefs seek support for cross-border deals, infrastructure sharing

A group of European telecom companies have urged the European Commission to "give Europe an industrial policy for digital leadership" so they can compete on a global level. The industry needs a "stable and sustainable regulatory environment" as well as "fair and balanced rules for competing with global players," according to the letter, signed by 21 chief executives, including ​Tim Höttges of Deutsche Telekom and Stéphane Richard of Orange. They also called on the EU executive to "actively address the fragmented European telecom market." By doing so, investment in infrastructure would be encouraged at "cross-border scale" as well as mobile-network sharing.Letter is attached....
