Unicaja-Liberbank merger gets conditional approval from Spanish regulator

( June 29, 2021, 16:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: Unicaja and Liberbank will become Spain's fifth largest bank in terms of assets after their merger was approved with conditions today by the Spanish competition authority. The CNMC cleared the merger because the resulting market share of both entities is “reduced” and there are “important” competitors. The only competition issues have been found in 3 municipalities in the province of Cáceres, where the merger presents high rates of concentration. Therefore, Unicaja has agreed to a set of compromises in that area to ensure fair competition.Press release follows....
