Oi asks CADE to cut 26.5 million reais fine in antitrust marketing probe

( July 30, 2015, 18:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Telecom operator Oi has asked Brazil's antitrust authority to review a 26.5 million reais fine ($8.5 million) that the regulator imposed in March. Oi was fined for illegally monitoring customers interested in switching to rival Vesper and then making them a more attractive offer. Oi claims that CADE made a "calculation mistake," similar to the one it made in a case involving Ambev. The beverage company saw its fine partly reduced because of that mistake. Ambev had been accused of abusing its market clout through a loyalty program. See document attached....
