EU trade lawmakers agree anti-coercion mechanism negotiating position

( October 10, 2022, 16:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lawmakers in the European Parliament's trade committee agreed today on their negotiating position for talks with EU governments and the European Commission on a final version of provisions setting the EU anti-coercion mechanism. They agreed that the primary goal of the new tool should be to dissuade foreign countries from attempting coercion or to get them to halt an attempt at coercion and avoid escalating the conflict. The position was approved with 34 votes for, none against and six abstentions.Statement follows....
