Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Microsoft, Google make progress on vaccination information, EU says

( June 29, 2021, 11:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary:  Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Microsoft and Google are continuing to make progress in combating disinformation about Covid-19, as part of their commitments under the EU code of practice on disinformation. Facebook and TikTok have run vaccination-promotion campaigns, Google and Microsoft's Bing have search functions for vaccination information, and Twitter has a system to alert users when their Tweets are labeled as misleading. The commission said more data is needed from the companies "for a better understanding of the impact of measures taken by platforms to fight coronavirus-related disinformation." The code fits with the Digital Services Act, which aims at combating illegal content on platforms, such as hate speech and terrorist content.Full statement below:...
