Parentco’s purchase of Edcon gets antitrust clearance in Botswana

Edcon controls South African company Bidco, which owns Edgars Consolidated Stores, an operator of sportswear and clothing stores through several brands. Parentco is owned by New Hold Co 1 and New Hold Co 2 — special-purpose vehicles with numerous shareholders, including Harvard University and Alliance Bernstein.
