Australia formally initiates WTO complaint against Chinese wine duties

( June 29, 2021, 02:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia has requested World Trade Organization dispute consultations with China concerning anti-dumping and countervailing duty measures China has imposed on Australian bottled-wine imports. The Australian government announced its plans to take the dispute to the WTO earlier this month, before circulating the request to WTO members on June 28 at the latest meeting of the Dispute Settlement Body. Australia's request for consultations gives it time to discuss the matter with China without proceeding further with litigation. If after 60 days the dispute remains unresolved, Australia can request adjudication by a panel — something the country is already pursuing in relation to Chinese duties on barley imports.The full statement from the World Trade Organization follows: ...
