EU environment, transport chief jobs temporarily assigned to green policies’ top officials

( July 15, 2024, 08:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU's top jobs for environment and transport have been temporarily assigned to the EU Green Deal chief Maroš Šefčovič and the bloc’s climate policy chief Wopke Hoekstra respectively. The current top officials — Virginijus Sinkevičius for environment and Adina-Ioana Vălean for transport — have resigned to take up their seats at the newly elected European Parliament. The commission said in a statement that Vălean’s resignation will take effect today; while that of Sinkevičius will take effect tomorrow, July 16.Statement follows....
