Methane emissions-reduction law published in EU Official Journal

( July 15, 2024, 07:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU fossil-fuel companies and importers today saw the publication in the Official Journal of stricter EU rules to cut methane emissions. EU oil, gas and coal companies will be forbidden from releasing or burning methane using venting and flaring practices, and will have to detect and repair methane leaks under strict deadlines. Fossil-fuel importers will have to demonstrate that their suppliers are subject to monitoring, reporting and verification requirements equivalent to those applying in the EU from 2027.Official notice is attached....
