Canada's Competition Bureau investigating First Air, Canadian North

( October 20, 2016, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Max Liu, a law officer of Canada’s Competition Bureau, has submitted affidavits with a federal court in Ottawa in support of the bureau’s application seeking orders requiring President of Canadian North Steve Hankirk and President of First Air Brock Friesen to provide information as part of an investigation of a codeshare agreement between the companies and allegations of predatory pricing. Liu says that the agreement has been under review since May 2015 due to it allowing the airlines to enhance their level of coordination, which could potentially lessen competition. During the review of the agreement, the bureau also became aware of allegations that the airlines engaged in predatory pricing on the Ottawa-Iqaluit route, which shut out competition from a partnership between Sarvaq Aviation and Flair Air. See document below. ...
