Optus-TPG Telecom agreements spark new Australian merger probe

In a market inquiries letter issued late on Friday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said it would examine the deal’s likely impact on price competition for mobile services, how closely Optus and TPG currently compete and the likelihood of other competitors expanding their network coverage.
