Biofuels industry ‘as financially powerful as the tobacco lobby,’ Oxfam says

( October 26, 2016, 14:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Companies producing biofuels last year spent 14 million euros on influencing the development of a damaging EU approach to plant-based fuels, a report from NGO Oxfam said today. “The lobby of European biofuel producers alone is now as financially powerful as the tobacco lobby,” Oxfam said in a statement.  “In its anxiety to diversify its energy sources and cut fossil fuels, the EU is instead directly and indirectly causing eviction, poverty, hunger,” said the report’s author, Oxfam’s Marc-Olivier Herman.
