Ring purchasers' privacy claims get sent to arbitration by US judge, non-purchaser plaintiffs' claims remain in court

( June 24, 2021, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Consumers who purchased a Ring device from Amazon.com and made a Ring account must arbitrate claims that the company failed to safeguard the security of its Internet-connected doorbell monitor system must arbitrate their claims, according to a US judge. US District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald said that the consumers were on notice of Ring’s terms of services. However, he denied Ring's motion to compel arbitration as to non-purchaser plaintiffs because they are not “authorized users” under the terms and their guardians’ assent to the terms’ arbitration clause does not bind them.See document below....
