Global energy sector to see IEA 'roadmap' to net-zero emissions by 2050

( January 11, 2021, 17:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Energy businesses and policymakers worldwide will see a report outlining a “roadmap” for the sector to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 released on May 18, the International Energy Agency announced today. “Our roadmap to net zero can play a vital role in helping countries identify and implement the actions needed to achieve climate, energy security and affordability goals,” its head, Fatih Birol, said. The agency further announced today that “international energy cooperation” will be a central topic of its second Clean Energy Transitions Summit co-hosted by the UK government on Mar. 31 in the runup to the UN climate summit COP26. Over the year, the IEA will also publish fresh studies on methane emissions and minerals that are "critical" for the green transition.Statement follows....
