Defunct photo storage app maker Everalbum settles with US FTC over facial recognition allegations

( January 11, 2021, 17:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Everalbum, maker of the photo app Ever, has settled US Federal Trade Commission allegations that it deceived consumers about its use of facial recognition technology. The FTC alleged Everalbum mislead consumers in a variety of ways, including by turning facial recognition on automatically for users in most US states and not allowing it to be turned off, failing to delete images from deactivated accounts and using users' images to train its facial recognition algorithm.
