Chile's competition tribunal ratifies settlement between FNE, Navimag Carga in cargo transportation market

( October 5, 2022, 15:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Chilean competition tribunal has approved a settlement agreement between antitrust agency Fiscalía Nacional Económica, or FNE, and ferry company Navimag Carga aimed at ensuring competition in the transport of roll on/roll off (ro-ro) cargo in the two-way Puerto Montt-Chacabuco maritime route. The agreement settles a probe in which Navimag was accused of harming competition by acquiring a vessel from Naviera GyT, its only competitor, and therefore becoming a monopolist in the ro-ro transport services on this route. In addition, Navimag has agreed to pay 500 annual tax units, equivalent to approximately 357 million Chilean pesos ($380,000).FNE press release follows in Spanish. The decision is attached....
